Ok, Mason is not even 15 months old yet, and he's already had his first ferris wheel ride at the Fair last night! Yes you read that correctly. Brian, his cousin Jacob, Mason and I just wanted to get some boston market for dinner last night. As we got closer to boston market and ran into some road closures, we remembered that it was fire works night in westland. So we ate dinner and decided to stay. Totally unprepared, but we had a car full of stuff from our weekend in Ohio. We packed up the stroller and headed into the fair. It was packed and crazy. We let Mason play in the park where they have little mini houses for the kids to play. So Mason ran from house to house talking to all the kids. He was having so much fun. Then we strolled thru the fair again to meet papa and my sister Carrie, hubbie Andy & niece Hannah. We found Papa and walked around some more. We ended up in front of the Ferris Wheel...
Mason eyes were like huge saucers and he was bouncing up and down in my arms to the music. He just kept staring at the ferris wheel and dancing to the music. He could not have been happier, or so I thought...
Then the man working the controls on the ferris wheel started talking to us. He couldn't help but notice how much Mason seemed to like the ferris wheel. About 5 minutes later he said, "you should take him on it", of course I said "oh no, that's ok, he seems to really like watching it". The conversation went on and he insisted we take him on, gave us free tickets to ride the ride and let us skip the 30 minute line. Of course I have terrible motion sickness, so Jacob took my ticket and joined Da and Mason on the ride of his life. Brian said Mason loved it. Every time I caught a glimpse of them while they were spinning around, Brian was laughing, Mason's eyes were huge, and Jacob had a very serious look on his face. I thought I was going to throw up watching them on it, and I was thinking what is my baby doing on a ferris wheel!!!
This was no ordinary ferris wheel either. It was the double wheel, ferris wheel. Nearly in extinction...only 1 of 2 left in the US. I really don't know what we were thinking letting Mason ride it. I lay in bed last night thanking God for not letting anything happen to Mason on the ferris wheel and asking him to help me have wisdom to make better choices in the future. :)
Mason on the other hand, his first word when he got off the ride was "do" as he was pointing to the ferris wheel. He wanted to "do" it again.
We eventually saw some fire works, which were nice. About 10 minutes into the show, we decided to head home. Mason was exhausted and was putting the blanket over his eyes. He need to get to bed. He seemed to like the fireworks though. It was a nice ending to a good weekend!
